iStock_000007034910XSmallOne of my New Year’s resolutions is to get serious about studying Professional Copywriting. There are a set of rules to writing good marketing/sales pieces and I’m always working hard to understand these rules better so that I can relay them easily and clearly to my Remodeling Clients.

Here’s one I’d like to share with you today:

One of the secrets to writing great copy is making it REALLY easy to read.

  • 7th grade reading level or lower = good copy.
  • College level = BAD copy. Bad. (Always!)

Take whatever you have most recently written and Paste your text into THIS TOOL. <— Click on the link

It will tell you what grade level your written text is.

Moral of the story…

Make your copy EASY to read… Simple is better! More writing tips in the coming weeks and months…

P.S. The Flesch-Kincaid Grade Level of this blog post is 3.7!
