I’ve given this idea to several of my remodeling clients recently and I have one who has been implementing it consistently.

Everytime we talk, he’s telling me:

“Kyle, you can’t believe the number of people that comment on it! Some people are calling me just to hear what I recorded today. Makes them smile, helps differentiates me, and helps them like me more.”

What I’m talking about is simply updating your voicemail daily (even doing it weekly can work.)

The formula that I use is:

“You’ve reached [Your name]. Today is Thursday, September 8th and on this day [insert fact from this day in history]. [Say something clever/funny related to the day in history]. Today I’ll be in the office most of the morning before being out to a client meeting in the afternoon. Please leave a message and talk to you soon.”

It’s simple. It differentiates. It’s clever. It helps build know and like with clients and prospects.

Here’s a part of the message I had today:

…Today is Thursday, September 8th and on this day in 1998, Mark McGuire broke Roger Maris’ record for most home runs in a single season. Here at Remodel Your Marketing, we can help you break sales records without the assistance of performance enhancing drugs…

Pretty much everybody that left a message for me was still laughing when their voicemail started. Give it a shot! Let me know how it works for you.

P.S. I literally spend only 4-5 minute each morning updating my voicemail. I go here and look at the items on the left side. Pick one and record.
